As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Women of Faith (also known as ‘circles’) have been gathering at Faith Lutheran Church for generations. There are currently two active circles and a separate women’s discipleship group that meet once a month at the church or in members’ homes, and each would be delighted to welcome new members. At Information Central you can find a brochure that describes the history and mission of our national group, the Women of the ELCA. You can also find copies of Lutheran Women Today, an award-winning publication that includes inspirational articles, news and commentary, human interest features, and Bible studies. Women of Faith is active throughout the year. In September we started a new 9-month bible study called “Blessed to Follow: the Beatitudes as a Compass for Discipleship”. The 2007 Faith Lutheran Church Bazaar, sponsored by the Women of Faith and the Fabric Crafters, was held on October 13 in the Fellowship Hall. This is our annual fundraiser that has generated thousands of dollars for charity. Our members were involved is all aspects of the bazaar, from setting up tables and making cookies to donating white elephants and selling handmade crafts. In December, the Women of Faith will host a new member reception and enjoy a festive Christmas party. Other activities in 2007 included a Christian Yoga demonstration in January, the annual Metro DC Synod women’s convention in May, and an informative Leadership Training event in September. As individuals, the members of Women of Faith are active in all aspects of congregational life, and we support the charitable work of the Women of the ELCA at the synodical and national level.

We are eagerly looking forward to the 2008 Triennial Convention of the national Women of the ELCA, scheduled for July in Salt Lake City. Details are now available at Information Central and the convention website: http://www.womenoftheelca.org/tg08/index.html
