First Wednesday

First Wednesday will take a break until September.  First Wednesday is a great way to gather with friends and family for dinner and fellowship, followed by a short activity and devotion. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family (except for first-time attenders who eat for free). Please sign up at Information Central for this fun event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amy at abockhop@hotmail.com or 202-544-2136.

Highlights from 2007-2008

Here are Thanksgiving prayers contributed by our November 7th First Wednesday Dinner guests. Instead of sharing recipes for the holiday, we Shared A Prayer with our neighbors. Maybe you can find one that you can use when you’re called on to ‘say grace’ at your Thanksgiving gathering!

Fill Our Hearts
Good and gracious God, Loving Father,
Accept our humble prayer
For the many blessing you have given us this year.
Fill our hearts with love for one another
And grant us the peace that comes with your grace.

Thank You Lord
Thank you Lord for the blessings
That you have showered upon us
And for walking beside us for all of our days.

Your Saving Grace
Dear Father, there is so much to thank you for:
Your son, life, family, friends, country, church, and community.
Thank you for good health and for the beauty of your creation.
Above all Lord, thank you for your saving grace.
Amen

Being with Extended Family
Thank you, God, for this opportunity
To be with our extended family.
Bless the food placed before us.
May it nourish us to better serve thee.
Thank you for your love and the gift of your son.
In His name, we pray. Amen

Thank You, Lord x 4
Thank you, Lord!
Thank you, Lord!
Thank you, Lord!
I just want to thank you, Lord!

Grace and Love Forever More
God of grace and love,
Even with all my faults and failings,
I praise and thank you for everything
And ask that your blessings continue forever more. Amen

A Morning Table Prayer
Lord Jesus be our holy guest,
Our morning joy, our evening rest.
And with our daily bread impart
Thy joy and peace to every heart.

God has created a bright new day.
Silver and green and gold.
Let us live that the sunset may find us
Worthy his gift to hold. Amen

Guide Us
God is merciful, forgiving and loving.
Though we do not deserve it,
We are so thankful for His continued blessings and bounty.
Please continue to guide us and lead us toward your will.
In your holy name. Amen

Another Day
Dear Lord,
Thank you for another day of living, loving, and learning;
For food and shelter and rest and freedom;
And for this meal with family and friends. Amen

Care for Us
Heavenly Father, loving God,
We are all sinners, yet You still forgive us our sins.
For that, we thank You even though we don’t deserve your mercy and forgiveness.
So, we ask You to continue to care for us
And to forgive us our since.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Come, Lord Jesus
Come, Lord Jesus,
Be our guest.
Let this food
To us be blessed. Amen

End of the Meal Prayer
Have thanks, Lord Jesus
And be blessed
For having been our Giver
And our Guest.
