Craft Room Collections: New Bars of Soap for Lutheran World Relief. We are still collecting new bars of soap. We also need more blankets and warm sweaters. PLEASE HELP!!
Many organizations receive donations from the collections under the "Umbrella" in the Sewing Room located in the Undercroft of the church.
Soap Month for Lutheran World Relief will be held during the month of April this year. New bars of soap may be left in the basket at Information Central and also in front of the Craft Room in the Undercroft.
Warm sweaters and blankets are welcomed for Lutheran World Relief. These donations are sent to many countries around the world.
We are also collecting the fronts of all kinds of greeting cards for the craft group at the National Lutheran Home in Rockville, Maryland.
Gently used hand towels are requested for use in making bibs for some of the residents of the National Lutheran Home.
Faiths Fabric Crafters are pleased to announce another home in
Arlington for our "comfort Pillows" and Lap Robes. The nursing staff
will accept these items for the terminally ill at hospice. These
pillows and lap robes may be made in many different sizes according to
their needs. Many in our church family have purchased these items for
members of their family. The small pillows are $3.00 and lap robes
$5.00 to $7.00 depending on size. They are available on Sunday mornings
between services and after the 11am service in the Craft Room in the
Undercroft.
If you have any questions about the Fabric Crafters, who meet on occasional Wednesdays, please contact Jeannette at 703-370-3793 or email djdere@earthlink.net.
Faith's women who tie quilts and comforters meet on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the craft room of the church. We accept donations of filler for use in many of our projects.
In 2007, several items were taken to Lutheran World Relief at New Windsor, Maryland. There they are packed and shipped to countries all over the world to comfort people who are suffering from disasters. They may be used as a tent during the day to shelter from the sun, or as covers to keep one warm during the night. In 2007, the quilters donated
For Lutheran World Relief
14 quilts made by the group
10 blankets collected by the group
191 pounds of soap plus pieces of material
For the National Lutheran Home
85 "positioning pillows,"
6 walker totes,
4 wheel chair totes
35 lap robes
For Culpepper Gardens
42 "comfort / positioning pillows"
